Reaper

Cyrus McCormick

Cyrus McCormick invented the horse drawn reaper.  By using a series of rotating motions, he was able to cut grain much more efficiently than a person.  A large spinning wheel brought the grain to a cutting blade and acted like a pair of sissors.  The wheel would go over the blade and the cut grain would go into a compartment at the back of the machine.
